hey, I don’t make the rules
just kidding, yes I do.
let’s talk bookings & cancellations
All scheduling is done 100% online through Vagaro. As a one-woman show, online booking acts as my virtual employee so that I can spend my time focused on my clients in the chair.
To schedule ANY appointment a (non-refundable*) 50% deposit is required. This goes towards the total cost of your service and the final balance will be due at the end of your appointment.
I keep the studio reserved exclusively for you during your appointment. I understand that life happens, and I try to be as accommodating as possible, but when untimely cancellations or reschedules happen, multiple people end up affected.
If you need to reschedule or cancel anytime two days before the day of your scheduled appointment (not counting the day of your scheduled service), you will be charged the remaining balance of the service booked. This balance will be paid by the card on file with Vagaro.
If your payment method fails, you will be contacted and sent an invoice. If you do not pay this invoice within 24 hours, you will no longer be welcomed to book services at The Waxing Poetic.
No-call/no-shows will be charged the remainder of your appointment and will be blocked from making further appointments.
Occasionally things will happen in my life and I will need to move your appointment. I will give you as much notice as possible and reschedule you as soon as I am able to. In cases such as these, appointments will be moved in the order they were originally booked.
managing your appointment
Vagaro will send out confirmation texts/emails 84 hours prior to your appointment-- leaving you with 24 hours to make any changes. Please do not opt out of these notifications as you may miss your window to reschedule without penalty if need be.
The easiest and most efficient way to manage your appointment is by downloading the Vagaro (not Vagaro Pro) app. Within the app, you can set up a profile, edit, reschedule and book your own appointments. If you have the app, your appointment details will also be sent to you through push notifications.
Although you can reschedule your appointment on your own through Vagaro, you cannot cancel it. To cancel an appointment, you must call, text or email the shop. Cancellations made within the cancelation period are subject to the cancellation policy detailed above.
Cancellations are only accepted through call or text. Facebook and Instagram messages do not count as proper notification and will not be honored.
If you do not receive notification of your appointment change, your appointment was not rescheduled or canceled. Please note, adding yourself to the waitlist, does NOT reschedule your existing appointment.
lateness
Keeping a timely schedule is something I pride myself on. Obviously, sometimes things happen that are out of our control, but lateness will not be tolerated. I will not run late for others to “squeeze” you in. The Waxing Poetic is a squeeze-free studio. Each and every client deserves their allotted appointment time and this includes you. Please leave plenty of time for travel and the unexpected along the way.
Lateness exceeding 5 minutes will be marked as a same day cancellation and the proper fee assessed unless my schedule allows.
payment & gratuity
Credit card is the preferred method of payment as I do not keep enough cash to make change in the shop for cash payments.
Cash gratuity, although never expected, is always appreciated.
gift cards
Gift cards expire one year after issuance.
refunds
Absolutely no refunds will be given for completed services.
Deposits are only transferable to rescheduled appointments outside of the penalty period and are otherwise non-refundable.
the waitlist
The waitlist is a great way to nab a last minute opening. However, adding yourself to it does not reschedule your existing appointment. If you miss your scheduled appointment while hoping for a waitlist opening, cancellation and no-show fees will apply.
inclement weather
Snow day closures will be called the day of forecasted weather. If the shop closes, all appointments will be contacted and rescheduled. If the shop opens, you will be given the choice to reschedule with no penalty. Appointments that choose to reschedule will be moved to my earliest availability within normal business hours.
If you choose to simply cancel your appointment without rescheduling, same day cancellation fees will apply.
FAQs
Where is the studio located?
The studio is located in Pine Bush, NY. A quirky small town located at the base of the Shawangunk Mountains. There’s not much to do here, but I can promise you that your brows will be out of this world (iykyk).
I’m a new client, what should I book?
Firstly, I’m so happy you found me! I suggest that all new clients start with the clean brow. It’s the perfect amount of time for me to get a good look at your brows and discuss what the best plan of action would be to help you reach your brow goals.
Please be sure to have at least 4 weeks of uninterrupted hair growth before your appointment. Tweezing your brows within a week of your appointment wastes your time (and money) and mine— so please, let ‘em grow!
Can I bring my kids?
Due to the nature of the service, sharp corners, & chemicals present, young children are not permitted at the studio.
Will my brows be crunchy after a lamination?
Not a chance! Well, a small chance. Laminations do require some maintenance, so if you do nothing, you do risk your brows potentially becoming brittle and breaking, but fear not— the aftercare isn’t hard.
What is the difference between the natural and defined brows?
The intensity of the color and therefore the duration it lasts. The natural brow is lighter and less opaque. The defined brow is much bolder with an opacity reminiscent of Dipbrow. If you don’t know what any of that means, book the clean brow and we can chat at your appointment.
